Christmas Tradition

Okay I know this is really random for a photography blog but I just had to share, so hope you like trying out new foods! Passing on a Christmas tradition recipe that makes me jump for joy! We all have them, a certain meal we cook each Christmas! I would love to share my all time favorite because it's so delicious and the season is all about sharing. Okay so let me start off by saying it was passed on from my mother, she would always have this dish on the table both for Thanksgiving and Christmas and I'm not to complain because I absolutely love it. I certainly wish she lived a little closer because there's nothing better than when a parent cooks. As our family tradition there's several dishes involved but this certain meal has stuck with me and now every Holiday is a most do and requested by all! You might of heard of it or even tasted it (if so then hooray) If not please if all the ingredients sound like something you would or wouldn't mix I certainly recommend to try....Its simple but oooohh sooo good and it's pink! This version has a Dominican twist so I like to call it since my mom makes it. I mainly eye ball and taste so please do as well when adding condiments. So lets get started, the famous dish is called:

RUSSIAN POTATO SALAD

(I took this picture Thanksgiving not knowing Ill be posting it on my blog, but gives you an idea. It looks kinda messy but don't let it fool you it's delish!)

Ingredients:

8 Potato's (Idaho, medium-large)

4 Eggs boiled (diced)

1 Beet (boiled and small diced)

1 large carrot (boiled and small diced)

half an Onion ( It can be a red or regular onion, small diced)

Peas (small bowl)

Vinegar (regular)

Mayo

Salt (a few pinches, add to potato's while boiling)

Of course it all depends how many people, but I'm estimating this to about 5-7 servings.

1ts Step= After dicing onions put in a bowl and cover in vinegar just enough so the onion is soaked, add salt about 1 1/2 table spoon, cover and leave in refrigerator.

2nd Step= Peel and boil Ingredients that need to be boiled, after cooked drain them and let them cool down

3rd Step= Dice all ingredients in small-medium diced (not including peas)

4th Step= Add potatoes, carrots, eggs, beets all together in a big bowl necessary for mixing.  Add in onions without the vinegar (use spoon with holes to divide from the Vinegar, this is where taste comes in I usually taste and if needed add some of that salt and Vinegar remaining to the mix.) Add Mayo to preferred taste!

5th Step: If you'd like place the salad to a nice looking bowl and sprinkle some Peas on top.

Now whaaaaaallaaaaa your ready to eat, Bon Appetit!

Please feel free to leave me any comments if you have ate this before or if you decide to try it!
